Con & Bex chat Sweetie Houses and Witches with the cast of Hansel and Gretel After Ever After!!!
How long do you think it would take to eat the whole of the witches house and what part of the house would you start on? Bex age 10
David Walliams – That’s a good question. I loved this story as a kid. It was one of my favourite stories. I loved the idea the house was made of sweets and I love sweets. I was always intrigued by the idea that they pushed the Witch in the oven, it’s really gruesome.
The house made of sweets is just a brilliant idea isn’t it? It’s there to warn children of danger isn’t it?
It would probably take me, twenty, maybe Twenty-Five finites. It depends what its made of. In your imagination it could be made of anything – Chocolate, Fudge, caramel, Honey Comb. All of those kind of things. Oh my God, I just love it.
Its like Easter Eggs. You know with Easter Egg chocolate, for some reason its so much nicer. You could just break off a bit of that house and stuff your face with it. Its brilliant!!!
Sheridan Smith – Maybe I’d start with the Marshmallow Doorknocker. I’d go for that maybe?
Cheryl Fergison – I like a Party ring, so I would have gone with a Party ring.
Sophie Thompson – I think I would go for the windows. I remember as a kid, the windows in the book were made out of sponge sugar. That’s always stuck with me. When you go to a museum and there’s really old windows, they always look like they’re made out of liquid.
So I would break in via the windows and eating it on the way.
Cheryl Fergison – I love gingerbread as well, so I would just punched my way through the walls.
Bill Bekele – As there’s a trail going into it with the candy sticks, I’d start there. Id say about half an hour..
Lily Aspell – As a snack!
Bill Bekele – Yeah a small snack. And then I’d go to the main course, which is the house. The walls would take about ten minutes.
Lily Aspell – Between us I think we could do it in a week.
Bill Bekele – A week?!!!
Lily Aspell – Yeah.
Bill Bekele – I’d say about ten or fifteen minutes maybe.
What Fairy tale do you find the most random and why? Con age 14
Bill Bekele – I think Hansel and Gretel is pretty random. It’s a big brother and a little sister who have got a witch in their village. And they’re trying to kill it.
Lily Aspell – I think ‘Red Riding Hood’ is quite random. There’s the wolf and that’s quite random I think.
Bill Bekele – They’re all well made…
Lily Aspell – They’re random, but good writing.
Bill Bekele – Every fairy tale is random because it’s not real life. It’s all super natural things and made off of supernatural beliefs. All of them are random really.
The witch flies around on a sherbet dip – what would you fly around on? Bex age 10
David Walliams – A Jet Pack I would like.
Cheryl Fergison – I was going to say that, a Jet Pack. They look good.
Sophie Thompson – You remember ‘Never Ending Story’, The Dragon?
Sheridan Smith – I think I would go for a Magic Carpet.
Lily Aspell – My Pony.
Bill Bekele – My XBox Series X. I just have to have it with me all the time. Maybe a TV as well!!!
Hansel and Gretel were tricked by the witch by having a sweetie house. What one thing could a witch trick you with to gain your trust? Con age 14
Sheridan Smith – Dogs.
Sophie Thompson – Cheese.
Cheryl Fergison – Animals in general.
Lily Aspell – Again Ponies. And show jumping.
Bill Bekele – Video games. She’d be like, “I’ve got the new XBox Unreleased….” and I’d just walk in.
David Walliams – Money!
If you could have any pet as your sidekick, what pet would you choose and why? Bex age 10
Lily Aspell – My Pony or my dog.
Bill Bekele – If an XBox could have arms and legs, maybe I could have that as my sidekick.
If you were a troll, where would you live? Con age 14
Lily Aspell – Probably under a bridge. That’s the safest option. You can scare people and be safe.
Bill Bekele – You can have trolls online right? I guess I could be a troll that lives on the Internet. **
Lily Aspell – Under a bridge for me, that’s the safest bet!
