Disney’s Frozen – Hag and Con’s Questions for the Producer Peter Del Vecho

Why did you call the snowman Olaf? Hag age 9
How we came up with the name Olaf? It was in the script when I first came on board so I can’t specifically tell you the origination of that although I will find out.
How big is the biggest snowman you’ve ever made and what did you use? Con age 6
Well I do remember building Snowmen – I grew up in Boston on the East coast of the United States and we built plenty of Snowmen. I don’t remember using much other than lots of wet snow. I do remember carrots, going into my mothers Kitchen and getting carrots and I used one of my Dad’s hat – which didn’t seem quite appropriate. Rocks I think as we didn’t have coal so we just used rocks.
It was a good size – it was bigger than I was, but I was probably only about that high (uses his hands to show about a metre from the ground)
What was your favorite Christmas film as a child? Hag age 9
Oh my God – the Jimmy Stewart…’Its a Wonderful life’ by far still is one of my favourite Christmas films. We actually watched it as ‘Story Tellers’ on this movie – we watched it again, because you really really understand what he’s going through. As we were developing Anna’s character and Elsa’s Character – the one thing John said (John Lasseter – Head of Disney and Frozen Producer) all the way through the film what the other ones thinking. I want to root for them, from their point of view – but also understand the opposite point of view from the other sister.
Dad – so is this the new ‘It’s a wonderful Life?
Ha ha ha….. It would be nice.
We screen a lot of films – we tend to watch at least a film a week. Sometimes it relates directly to the film we’re making – sometimes not. But its always good to sometimes remind yourself of great films you’re striving to be.
