How and why is the Robot (Baymax) full of air? Con age 7

Roy Conli – It’s a technology called soft robotics. Baymax essentially has a carbon fibre structure underneath. And then he has an inflatable layer – and the concept is we wanted to make him totally accessible to any patient we would come into contact with. And then he would never hurt anyone.

That’s the wonderful thing about Baymax – he is programmed purely for good.

When you see the film it’s interesting because he’s introduced to new program’s – this fighting stuff. So they’re a little bit in conflict.

Jonathan Ross – It’s remarkable that technology exists and you did that research to find it. Most people wouldn’t think there was that depth of work that went into it.

Roy Conli – One of the things we really focus on is research when we’re making these films. Obviously there’s fiction – but you want that fiction based in a scientific reality.
