Disney Channel: Cloud 9 – Hag & Con talk to Dove Cameron
What did you like most about making the movie? Hag age 9
“Halfway through the film shoot, we shot my favourite scene in the movie. It was a scene with Patrick Fabian, who plays Kayla’s father. He was fantastic!
We shot the scene in a beautiful house that we rented – and it was the scene after Kayla discovers her entire professional career has been a lie. Up until that point, my character was full of confidence – but this is the first time we see her upset. In the scene, she breaks down – and I spent hours preparing for that moment. It is a really raw scene and it was amazing to shoot because I had to channel some deep, sad emotions. I came out of it a much better actor.”
“I burst into tears when I saw a finished version of Cloud 9 for the very first time. Why did I cry? Because I was blown away by the beauty of the movie. It was really inspiring. In fact, by the end of the movie, I’d completely forgotten I was in it. Cloud 9 is a really touching story and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we enjoyed making it. It’s been a dream project and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
Why did you want to be a snowboarder? Con age 6
I grew up snowboarding, so it has always been my ‘go to’ sport. When you grow up doing something, it’s in your blood and it’s in your veins – and it’s something you never forget about. I’m a huge snowboarding fanatic!
Do you know how to snowboard for real? Hag age 9
“I’m a huge fan of snowboarding, so this movie is perfect for me! Everyone in the cast had to take special lessons before we started to shoot Cloud 9. There was a really intense, one-week training camp for everyone involved – and we all learned together.”
The last time I snowboarded was on the set of Cloud 9, but it wasn’t for very long. Right now, I can’t snowboard because I can’t risk breaking my wrist or any bones. We would have to shut down production on Liv & Maddie if that happened!
