Dad with Dan and Swampy
Why did you make Phineas and Ferb? Con age 5
SWAMPY – Dan and I liked working together a lot, so we created Phineas and Ferb and hoped that we could get it shown on a network and we could keep working together. So we created Phineas and Ferb in 1993, but unfortunately didn’t manage to get it picked up until 2006, so we didn’t get to work together for 13 years but it was worth the wait!
DAN – In retrospect we should’ve just gotten a job at a retail store, selling sweaters. It would’ve been easier. (he laughs!)
What inspired the characters? Hag age 8
SWAMPY – When we were growing up, Dan and I were encouraged by our parents to do lots of fun and creative things every day. We made movies, built tree houses, put on plays, made go-carts and all kinds of fun things.
DAN – We thought it would be nice to make a show that was all about our childhood that focused on kids doing lots of different things
If you could make any movie ever what would it be? Con age 5
SWAMPY – I would like to make a big epic western. I always loved cowboy movies, I still do. The music, the costumes, the horses and the incredible landscapes were always very inspiring to me.
DANI – want to make a science fiction action adventure musical comedy. It will be called “In Space No One Can Hear You Sing.”

What’s your favourite Phineas and Ferb song? Hag age 8
SWAMPY – Gitchie, Gitchie, Goo (Means that I love you) is still my favourite because it’s the first one Dan and I wrote for an episode of the show. But Squirrels In My Pants is pretty funny too.
DAN – I’m very proud of so many of them, but Summer Belongs To You and Carpe Diem stand out for me because they sort of encapsulate the entire theme of the series.
Why did you make Perry a Platypus in the show? Con age 5
SWAMPY – We thought Platypuses were very under-represented in films and TV. You almost never see them as characters in cartoons or anywhere, so we thought we should do it. They’re so interesting with their webbed-feet, beaver-tails, duck-bills and poisonous spurs, not to mention that they’re semi-aquatic and egg-laying! Can’t think of a more unusual animal on the planet!
DAN – Plus, for some reason, I can’t draw a dog. Every time I try it ends up with a beaver tail and a duckbill, so we sort of painted ourselves into a corner.
Do you think you two are Phineas and Ferb? Hag age 8
SWAMPY – I’ve always thought that we were each a little bit of both. If I had to pick, I’d say between Dan and I, I am ever so slightly more Ferb-ish.
DAN – What he’s trying to say there is that I talk a lot.
