In hindsight I might have waited to show 6 year old Con this film when it arrived on 3D Blu-ray so I could skip certain parts, as there are a few moments in the film I felt a bit uncomfortable showing him. It all actually went over his head – but I felt a bit like a bad parent.
I completely agree with the cinimatic ’12A’ rating and I like that I had the choice to take 8 year Hag to see the movie as he’s mentally much older than his age. My problem is this has the same rating as Avengers Assemble – a film many under 12’s have seen and Ironman 3 is a much darker and far more serious film. I still think Avengers should have been PG, especially now as it would show parents the difference in content between the two movies just by seeing an advert with the rating. Not all parents spend time researching what they show their Kidz. The great thing about a Home entertainment version of Ironman 3 is parents we can skip bits of the film we’d prefer younger Kidz (like Con) not to see.
Aside from that – this is and incredible film and up there with the first movie. The boys loved it!!!
3D Blu-Ray review:
The 3D’s quite subtle on this disc – its got great depth throughout but most of the 3D SFX are saved for the last 40 mins. Stand out 3D moment: Brain holgram, Bomb Scene Hologram, Attack on Stark mansion, Ironman saving people falling from Air Force One, Battle of the Iron-Men and Finale battle fight.
