LEGO video games are always money well spent for the family budget. Kidz will play them throughout the year and love every challenge thrown at them. This latest Avengers game is HUGE with bundles of playable characters and all kinds of wonderful powers. Many of these Avengers will be unknown to Kidz – but kidz love learning about new characters and all their abilities. Hag and Con enjoy playing LEGO Avengers in the two player mode and its very easy for kidz to join a game while someone else is already playing. Easy to play and full of colour. This is a must own video game for fans – Highly Recommended!!!
LEGO Marvel Avengers Launch event – Hag and Con’s questions for Assistant Game Director Stephen Sharples!!!
Can you play as Deadpool? Con age 8
Steven Sharples – No. (Laughs) No you won’t be able to play as Deadpool in LEGO Marvel Avengers in afraid. Deadpool just fits with s different family. We’re fully aware that Dwadpool has been associated with the Avengers – in the comic books. But he is more associated with another certain family (X-Men). And we’re all about showcasing the character first and full most the main movie characters. Outside of that there’s this great big roster of characters from the comics in the free play – they are all characters that have had a great connection with The Avengers than anyone else. And when it comes to Deadpool – we all love Deadpool, he’s amazing. He was fantastic LEGO Marvel Superheroes – he’s just got more of a connection with someone else.
Deadpool is a super cool character. He has the guns, he has the swords. And he has the comedy. There are a lot of characters that have those kind of things – but Deadpool’s a very unique one. There are a collection of characters that I would go for. The treatment we have given Daredevil this time and the way he can swing around is great. He’s got the Ninjary kind of acrobatics of Deadpool. But then you’ve got characters like Black Widow that’s got the guns. It’s a combination on things.
If you were a LEGO Avenger – what pieces would you be made out of? Hag age 11
Steven Sharples – Vibraniom. Vibraniom LEGO. Because it’s indestructible.
I would have an Iron Man helmet. If I’m purely going on my costumes I would have the Iron Man helmet – because in LEGO Avengers if I have the helmet on I could access all those different suites. I’m all about the righptchasness. So I would have Captain America’s torso. I think that’s quite controversial with what’s to come with those two. I’d be some kind of weird hybrid. And I think I would have Hulks legs. Although that doesn’t work in LEGO – but I’d have Hulks legs because then I could do the big jumping!!!
If you were a Super Hero – what team would you be with? Hag age 8
That’s an interesting one. I would say The Avengers but……’Hail Hydra!’!
It’s more fun to be a baddie. They are cooler in some ways.
In the game are there any characters that are mixed up between lots of other Avengers – like in LEGO Batman? Con age 8
No not really. We have a character called Ragnarok – who’s like a cyborg Thor which is the best way to describe him. He looks a bit like a Terminator. One side of his face is robotic with a red eye but then the rest of him is very Asgardian – very like Thor. He’d be the one that I’d pick.
We have certain characters – obviously in the comic books like Bucky Barnes or Falcon even who both take on the mantle of Captain America. So in LEGO Avengers you get to play as Bucky Barnes version of Captain America. And you get to play as Falcons version. It’s a different take on the question but it’s slightly the same.
In past game the backdrop city just stopped and you couldn’t get there. In this one can you get there? Con age 8
Steven Sharples – No. But you can go to a selection of other locations outside of Manhattan. So you can go to Asgard. This time – as part of playing Thor you can do quests and explore and do races and all the good things you can do in Manhattan. You can do this in Asgard and hang out with Odin and Loki or whoever else. That’s not the only one. There’s a number of locations from the two Avengers movies – there’s the NASA SHIELD base from the opening of the first Avengers movie. You get to hang out with a few secret characters.
I can tell you that one of the characters in there is Modok – who is back in there from LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. He was a boss character. You’re now doing quests for him in the SHIELD base area.
There’s Washington DC. You can go to Malibu – Tony Starks mansion. You can actually go inside the mansion and into the garage. There’s a number of locations you can go to – but you just can’t quite reach that city.
Can you use the Infinity Stones in this game and if yes what can you do with them? Con age 8
Steven Sharples – Well the infinity stones haven’t all been collected yet. Well when the Infinity Stones have all been collected and they form the Infinity Goblet – that Thanos owns then maybe we can talk about it.
You will come across the Infinity Goblet and all the stones but in terms of what you can do with them as a playable character – it’s not quite there yet. Until they’ve all been gathered in the movies we have to hold off. Because what that’s going to be able to do I guarantee will be spectacular in the movies. And we want to replicate that when the time comes. For the time being the search is in for the rest of them.
