Marvel Fantastic Four review by Con
(Please be aware Con has many Nigerian friends and between them they talk freely about skin colours. His comments in the review are purely about the look of a character he’s used to seeing animated as white with ‘fire like hair’ and said very innocently. Con loved Michael B. Jordan’s performance as Johnny Storm along with all the other actors.)
Out on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital Download 14/12/15 (12) “TOP END” 5 Stars…or…”Fantastic 4!”(If that’s higher)

There’s been a lot said about this new Fantastic Four reboot – it’s too dark, the colour of Johnny Storm, the age of the F4, the anticlimatic end and it all sounds very negative. Me and Con seem to have watched a very different film to everyone else – as we both thought it was good.
Starting with back story of the characters and especially the Storm family – that all makes sense and it’s a fresh new angle to the franchise. F4’s not too dark and the bad language mentioned on the BBFC website is far more subtle than other Super hero films.
As for the structure of the movie – the new Fantastic Four feels far more like the feature length first episode of a new series (baring in mind TV is far more theatrical these days – in the past this could have been seen as an insult to a movie) and less like the first big screen outing – although it does work well on the big screen.
If you go into F4 thinking with the same mindset as you watched the first episode of Daredevil, S.H.E.I.L.D and Gotham – you’ll be pleasantly surprised and want to see more from the characters.
With this in mind I wouldn’t take Kidz that are too young as it is a slow burner and takes a good hour before there’s any action. That said I took Con (age 8) and he loved it. Fantastic Four is really good – but it’s on the wrong platform. I think critics and fans would have been raving about the movie if they’d thought there was another 20 episode coming directly after the pilot. We’d love to see these guys as the Fantastic Four every week – it would be an amazing series!!!!
