KIDZCOOLIT EXCLUSIVE: Paddington Bear talks to Hag, Con & Bex!!!
What attraction did you like most when you arrived in London and why? Hag age 10
I was very excited when I first saw Big Ben because I recognised it from pictures of London that my Aunt Lucy showed me before I emigrated. Except that my friend Mr Gruber told me that the part you can see isn’t called Big Ben at all because that’s the name of the bell inside the clock tower.
Why do you like Marmalade? Bex age 3
Well, first of all I like the flavour of oranges and it makes very good sandwiches. I always keep a marmalade sandwich under my hat for emergencies. But marmalade can also be very useful if you’ve run out of glue because it’s so sticky. I even tried using some once to stick Mr Curry’s table back together when I accidentally sawed it in half.
If you could change the colour of your hat – what colour would you choose and why? Con age 7
I wouldn’t be very keen on changing my hat at all because it is very special as it belonged to my Uncle Pastuzo. But if I had to change the colour at all I would probably choose orange because it would mean that the marmalade stains wouldn’t show up quite so much.
Why didn’t you like the ‘facilities’? (Said during Paddington’s Bath time in the first Paddington film) Hag age 10
I’d never used ‘facilities’ until I arrived at the Browns’ house and I thought they were very complicated. They seemed to involve a lot of water and when you have fur it takes a very long time to dry. I have learned how to use the bath since then but I’m not very keen on having one unless I really have to.
Paddington – Have you noticed you do silly things? What’s the silliest thing you’ve ever done? Con age 7
I certainly don’t mean to do silly things. I think it’s usually people who do silly things. For example, did you know that they put up a sign next to the escalator on the underground that says “Dogs Must Be Carried”? So I had to go and find a dog before I could even get onto the escalator. Then I discovered it was going in the wrong direction and before I knew it both the dog and I were flying through the air. Then for some reason the man who owned the dog got cross with Mrs Brown and it was all because I’d tried to do the right thing and follow the instructions.
