Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters review by Hag (2D/3D)
On DVD, Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-ray 9/12/13 (PG) “Top End” 5 Stars
Parent View:
Two things stood out while watching this movie with Hag and Con – How long its been since I’ve watched a ‘Harry Potter’ style adventure movie. The last being Harry Potter nearly 2 years ago.
Also – a film like this always gets a 12A certificate. Its so refreshing to see a PG rating attached to a movie containing fantasy violence and scary moments. I think its much clearer for parents to see the difference between a Hunger Games/Women in Black and a Avengers/Harry Potter if the milder 12A’s are PG’s.
Percy Jackson is smashing and action packed from start to finish. Harry Potter fans should jump all over this franchise so we get to see the other books on the big screen.
3D Blu-Ray Review:
Like many live action 3D movies – Percy’s 3D is quite subtle throughout the movie mainly concentrating on depth and scale for landscapes and backdrops. the 3D normally kicks in around action sequences and monsters.
Stand out 3D moments – Taxi Ride, ocean Sea of Monsters, escaping the Sea of Monster – guns firing, Krona’s awaking and Percy v Krona’s – rocks flying
