Red Tails: Hag talks to Ex-EastEnders heart throb turned Hollywood actor Robert Kazinsky

(Robert Kazinsky plays US Pilot ‘Chester’ in Red Tails)

What was the first thing you did when you found out you were in a Lucas film?

Finding out you’re in a Lucas film is one of those moments that you vastly enjoy, it’s Hollywood royalty and to be a part of a Lucas movie, albeit in a very supporting role is still to this day one of the most satisfying days of my life.

Did you the actual pub do real Beer?

Real beer is rarely if ever used on a movie set, you’re often filming the same scene for many hours, so if it was real alcohol after a very short time no one would be capable of working or even breathing after drinking that much.

Did you know anything about the Red Tails before being in the film?

I didn’t, and that’s the joy of being an actor, in my career I’ve played a footballer, a dwarf, a doctor a music producer a builder a WW2 fighter pilot multiple soldiers and a super soldier from the future. These aren’t things most people know inherently so to be able to learn or research and develop characters to work in a real life story like the Tuskegee airmen and to learn our history is kind of the whole point.

Have you ever flown a real plane?

I kind of have, I’m terrified of flying i get very anxious, sweaty and agitated and when a 200 pound man looks like he’s about to break something it can be unnerving for other people. So recently we had to hire a private plane for a short trip and my friend who had hired it asked the pilot if i could sit upfront with him. Which I did, and i learned all about how to fly a plane, I adjusted the auto pilot I helped plot a course, i learned how the flaps works and the air speed etc. It was a lot of fun and certainly helped me deal with my fear.

What’s your next film coming up?

The next movie I’m working on is called Pacific Rim, it’s a giant Hollywood epic about giant monsters and giant robots Directed by Guillermo Del Toro and well, let’s just say I kind of have to help save the world maybe. that’s out July 2013.
