Parent View:
Soooo we’ve had the Playstation 4 for well over a month now – is it just sitting there gathering dust? Absolutely not – and part of me wishes it wasn’t as good as it is, so I could play Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Kill Zone: Shadow Fall and Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag sent through for me. I just can’t get a look in – Hag and Con are on it all the time. Stand out Games have been LEGO Marvel Super Hero’s, Need for Speed and Knack as well as anything in the Playroom.

Its a shame that we can’t use the system as a 3D Blu-ray player as the PS3 is a brilliant 3D Blu-Ray player – but its certainly not the end of the world. PS4 offers so much its really hard to get bogged down with one thing.

The system has now sold 4.2 million system’s so far worldwide and you can see why its so popular. Its lovely to look at in the lounge setting, a really good price and although graphic wise its hard to improve much on the PS3 for realism – the way we play and interact with a console has now changed with PS4. Easy access to Games, Film, TV and Music are a must for next generation consoles and being able to play through a second screen (PSVita) stops that frustration of having to end play when your parents want the TV back. Con being the biggest fan of this way of playing.

Also – Regular ‘Free’ full games to download is a very nice touch and will impact on the app market in time. Resogun is a big fave at Kidzcoolit HQ – download it now if you havent already.

And with ‘PS Now’ coming soon – gaming will be in line with the video market as Sony stream PS, PS2, PS3 and PSVita games in the style of sites such as NetFlix.

Sony have done it again – although this is just the beginning and its still too early to fully review Playstation 4. There are many more ‘System Updates’ to come over 2014 and beyond.

BE AWARE: When first setting up the Playstation 4 – be sure to use the same PSN account as you have on the PSVita. If you don’t it becomes a little complicated linking. Both systems must run from the same PSN account to link.

The Playstation 4 Games!!!

Playstation Plus

I just love this – for under £40 per year you can get discounted and free full games. In one month we’re already downloaded 4 superb games that cost nothing.

COMING SOON: PS NOW!!!

There have been a few complaints that you can’t use PS3 games on the PS4 – this won’t matter soon. In the same way you stream films through Netflix and LoveFilm you’ll be able to stream past games titles to PS4 and PSVita. This is very COOL!!!

MultiMedia Entertainment!!!

Stream Movies and TV shows direct to the TV from NetFlix and LoveFilm

For a monthly subscription – Kidz can enjoy a huge range of new and Retro products. Our choice is NetFlix as it seems to have a wider choice and it very easy for the Kidz to navigate around. The only negative is that you can’t play this through the PSVita – fingers crossed there will be an update in the coming months.

Also Available – iPlayer

Music Unlimited – Stream all the latest CD’s from day of release direct through your PS4!!!

This was a huge blessing during the festive period for entertaining family and friends. For a small fee every month you can stream pretty much all the albums available past and present at the touch of a button. It also helped me to pick was CD’s to buy for the boys as well as for my own Xmas list. We’ll no longer buy anything unless it’s a success while playing through the PS4.

Video Unlimited – Stream all the latest movies from day of release direct through your PS4!!!

We won’t have much use from this due to all the film’s we’re sent for Kidzcoolit to review – but for the normal household this is the future of how to watch movies. Day of release and at the touch of a button the latest movies.

Internet access – Full access with Parent control options

Live from Playstation – Watch other gamers play live and discuss the gameplay.

This is a cracking idea for the gaming community. When researching for Kidzcoolit I spent time with the older kidz on the site and watching how they intercted with gaming video’s on Youtube. Being able to watch this live is a really nice touch and could create a few gaming reality stars over the years.
