Review by Hag and Con
Out Now(Pegi 3) 4 Stars (CORRECTION – Now 5 Stars since owning one)
Parent View:
We really like the PS Vita but it doesn’t ooze the obvious excitement the Nintendo 3DS or iPad had on first play. Both Hag and Con were very eager to play the system when it arrived in the house – but really struggled at first to use the sensor on the back when playing the games. After time Hag managed to master it – but Con still struggles using games reliant on the back pad like Little Deviants.
The PS Vita is pretty much a small iPad but the games are far more expensive. At this stage I would tell most parents to buy either a iPad or 3DS for their Kidz. At first we tested it on a week long loan – it was only when we owned one that we really appreciated how much fun the system actually is. Con being the biggest fan.
Much like a 3D TV – on face value it looks like a gimmick and its not obvious the reason to own one. On playing regularly – the need to own a PS VITA becomes far more apparent if you enjoy portable gaming. The transferable game function between PS3 and PS VITA is very impressive and a big selling point for this system.
Stand out games Kidzcoolit HQ are LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, Every body’s Golf, FIFA, Mod Nation Racers, Rayman Origins and Michael Jackson: The Experience
The PS VITA is the future of portable entertainment – but I can understand the public not realising that from the advertising. To the general public it just looks like a new version of the PSP and actually its far more impressive than the advertising dictates.
Hag and Con test the games:
Hag’s pick of the PS Vita games: FIFA
Con’s pick of the PS Vita games: Rayman Origins
Michael Jackson: The Experience
Mod Racers: Road Trip
