The quote on the box for this movie says “A brilliant triumpth” and I couldn’t agree more. When I grew up – we were taught about the Second World War purely from the position of the countries that won it. There has been a fear over the years to humanise and show the suffering the ‘average’ German person also went through and how their lives were effected by the conflict too. England wasn’t at war with the German people – we were at War with Hitler and the Nazis. This is a beautiful story told really well and I would strongly recommend any young child watching it if they are able to understand such dramatic content.
