This isnt just a money making exorcise by Disney – this is truly one of the great family films of all time. For a ‘U’ rated movie there are some intense and minor scary moments – a little cuddle tends to cover this with young Kidz. The New 3D for this film is outstanding and really adds to the experience – keeping it relevant for the future.
3D Blu-Ray Review:
For me this is the 3D Blu-Ray event of the year – as it rates as one of my Top 5 movies of all time. The idea that an animated movie from the past can be given so much care and attention to bring it in line with today’s expectation of 3D entertainment is astounding. We watched this movie at the IMAX and for the first time since I was a Kid I put my hand out to reach as ‘Zazu’ flew into screen during ‘Circle of life’. I would like to think this film will still continue to play theatrically from time to time, but if doesn’t the 3D disc alone is a good reason to buy a 3D TV. Due to the vastness of the IMAX screen I was unable to take in the full detail of the landscape – where as on the small 3D screen every blade of Grass is noticeable and you truly bring the plains of Africa to your front room. The only point that has been raised by Calista’s Dad – is the lack of a song “The morning report” added to the last DVD release and not appearing in this version. Apparently she was very disappointed as its one of her favorite songs in the film. Fans of this song will be pleased to know it is included within the Extras along with some great Bloopers. In conclusion – The Lion King 3D is a must own!
