What a movie! We missed this theatrically and other than it was about a man left on Mars, didn’t know much about the feel of the movie. Its incredibly intense at times and there’s a slightly bloody moment at the beginning – but the positive and upbeat feel of the movie with regular humor makes this a really unexpected ‘Feel Good film’. The Martian may be a bit ‘sweary’ for most Kidz under 12 years old (Classified 12A Theatrically) – so check the BBFC website for content details before showing any under 12’s. All this aside – Remember seeing 2001 as a kidz? Its as good as that but really funny due to Matt Damon’s wonderful presence in the film. Highly Recommended!!!
3D Blu-Ray Review:
Plain and Simple – A MUST OWN FOR THE 3D Blu-Ray COLLECTION. Having missed it Theatrically – we had the next best thing seeing it on a small screen in 3D. The most remarkable thing for a movie that has so many scenes with a dark backdrop in space is there appears to be absolutely no ghosting. This is near on impossible for a film like this. But I couldn’t see any.
Stand out 3D Moments – Its really hard to pick 3D scenes like we normally do with The Martians 3D Blu-Ray – as it works as one beautifully flowing piece of 3D Effects. The Red landscapes of Mars are so vibrant in colour and look so vast in 3D, while the Space station scenes either externally or internally are a marvel in 3D FX. This is truly one of the best 3D Blu-Rays we’ve ever reviewed and a must own!!!!
