WWE: Live in the UK 2013

Not on the Disc – What we got to see at the WWE London O2 WWE Live show:

This was easily one of the best WWE tours to hit the UK – which makes it all the more frustrating that the DVD has a 15 rating. I don’t want to go ‘BBFC bashing’ as they have a very tough job pleasing everyone – but on the WWE certifications I would like to see a little more consistency with feature films from time to time and maybe a better understanding of the audience that watches WWE.

When you watch WWE the audience is full of under 12’s meaning the parents who take those Kidz feel the content is appropriate. There’s a pretty harsh moment when CM Punk uses a Kendo Stick – but aside from that its typical ‘Tom and Jerry’ style soap opera fun.

I took Hag (9) and Con (6) to see the London leg of this show and CM Punk used the stick here too. They’ve both grown up with WWE and know not to mimic any of the action seen. WWE make it so clear not to copy any of the action Hag can actual recite the trailer on every DVD word for word. I have a feeling a Batman or Avengers film would get a 12 rating if it had the same action sequences and there’s more chance of Hag and Con mimicking Batman than WWE as wrestling’s not really an adventure game they would play with their friends. Also they see WWE as ‘Real’ – so would fear copying the Superstars just incase they hurt themselves. With fantasy violence films – there is far more chance they would consider the action to be less harmful in real life.

This DVD should be a maximum 12A rating in my opinion not 15 – how can any parent take the certificate seriously when there are 5 year olds in the audience.
