Boomerang – Hag, Con & Bex return to Oz with Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz Producer Jeffrey DeGrandis
What was the hardest thing about adapting The Wizard of Oz into a TV show? Hag age 12
Jeffrey DeGrandis – I would say the hardest thing is adapting the books by L. Frank Baum – who wrote 11 books total! – and transform them into a fresh new animated show
If you had ruby slippers that could take you anywhere, any place and any time – where would you go and why? Con age 10
Jeffrey DeGrandis – Wow – this could take me hours to answer because I want to go everywhere. I think I would like to click the ruby slippers three times and go into space. I would also like to time travel in space, that would be fun!
How does Dorothy become the princess of Oz? Bex age 5
Jeffrey DeGrandis – Well you know Queen Ozma is the ruler of Oz and after Dorothy landed her house in Oz she became a princess in training. Queen Ozma decided to bring her in alongside Tin Man, Scarecrow, Lion and Toto and she took residency in Emerald City and became a princess in training.
Apart from your house – what is your ‘No place like home’? Hag age 12
Jeffrey DeGrandis – Here in the animation studio at my desk. Being able to draw cartoons and work on scripts, it’s my creative place and that’s my ‘No place like home’.
Aside from Rusting – what do you think would be the worst thing about being a Tin man and why? Con age 10
Jeffrey DeGrandis – Tin Man can’t eat regular food. Scarecrow and Tin Man can’t eat regular food, only Lion can – so Lion ends up gobbling all the food!
How do you think Dorothy’s ruby slippers became magic? Bex age 5
Jeffrey DeGrandis – Well looking back at the iconic film, Glynda the Good Witch came down in a bubble and made the ruby slippers appear on Dorothy’s feet. The ruby slippers were always magical to begin with, but the magic had to be worn by someone who would be responsible with the power, so that’s why they were put on Dorothy’s feet.
