Jonathan loves a challenge, but gets very frustrated with the New Rubik’s cube and taken it apart to start again a couple of times. He’s been on it twice a day since he got the cube – Jonathan won’t let it beat him!!
RUBIK’S PITS MAN AGAINST MACHINE IN 40TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR
As the Rubik’s Cube celebrates its 40th Anniversary, speedcubers from across the globe are coming together to find out who will take the title of Rubik’s UK Champion 2014!
The cubers are coming! November sees the Rubik’s UK Open returning to Leicester for the third time, attracting over 100 competitors from 13 countries.
The speedcubers have a challenge on their hands at this particular competition though, as the Cubestormer III robot will be charged and ready to take on the challenge, showing off its super-speedy techniques!
The event takes place on 1st – 2nd November 2014 at The O2 Academy, Leicester, and current UK Champion Thom Barlow will be defending his cubing title. The 2013 Rubik’s Cube Champion from Manchester last year completed the iconic 3×3 cube in a mind blowing 10.64 seconds average. Thom has a battle on his hands though, as current UK record holder and new European Champion, 16 year old Alexander Lau will be competing and ready to take on the challenge, as well as previous champ Breandan Vallance.
The Rubik’s UK Open event consists of many events including 2×2 Rubik’s Cube, 4×4 Rubik’s Cube, 5×5 Rubik’s Cube, Rubik’s Magic, 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube one handed and 3×3 Rubik’s Cube blindfolded. There’s also a new event added for this year which involves cubers solving the Rubik’s Cube with their feet!
