The Pirates is Monty Python for Kidz and ‘Big Kidz’ with a silly sense of humour. Hag just loved this film, Con found some of the movie a bit dark and scary at the cinema but seemed to be fine watching from the comfort of the family lounge. This is Aardman at their best.
3D Blu-Ray Review:
The same high standard as theatrically – the 3D’s particularly effective with Claymation. Full of depth and ‘out of the screen’ effects. Stand out 3D moments – ‘boingy’ eyes popping out, Pirate Captain dream sequence, London back drop scenes and finale with Queen Victoria.
LONDON BFI DVD and Blu-Ray Event (8/9/12) with ‘The Pirates!’ Director Peter Lord plus animators Jim Parkyn and Will Harding teach Kidz how to create a short film.
